Suggestions Welcome!

Well folks, even though I have not been the most prolific poster lately,

I still enjoyed "A Little Fur in the Paint".

However, my photo "hosting" service, Photobucket, has decided that it must charge

almost $40 per month to restore my photos and to

continue "hosting", and that's kind of ridiculous.

And maybe Google/Blogspot isn't the best blog platform anymore, either.

So, I am open to suggestions ~ do you still blog? Read them?

Have a favorite (for the not-so-tech-savvy) platform?

Prefer just Instagram?

What are your thoughts?

(And thank you bunches to all the people who still check in on me!)

Please leave me a comment...

Thank you!

A Little Tree-Frog Visitor and Instagram... :)

I would love it if you visited me on Instagram! I have been "playing" there quite a bit, and trying to coordinate everything with my Etsy shop, which I am getting ready to update.

 My Instagram username is anne_octobermoon ~ :)

This little fellow was watching me water my plants on the patio last night... I think he was looking for his complimentary color to perch upon!

The Every Day or Two (or Three) Challenge

Yes, that's what this challenge should be for me!

I'm still having fun, though, and Leo is a willing subject.

'Leo', watercolor on 300# Fabriano paper, 6"x 6"

(I also do pet portraits; this size is $65. Message me if you are interested!

Make sure to include your contact information.)

"Cherry on Top", Part Two...

Well, I can already tell that my life is going to 'get in the way' of this challenge!

Second day, *right out of the gate*, I didn't do a painting...

(I packaged and FedEx-ed other artwork, though, so that was something!)

Back on track, now, with "Cherry on Top 2", in my old familiar medium, watercolor.

 Thank you for your encouragement!

Have a safe and happy Labor Day!

"30 in 30" Challenge

Switching gears here a little (and it may make me a better blogger) ~

Participating in this fun challenge, hosted by Leslie Saeta.

The goal is "thirty paintings in thirty days"; every day for the month of September.

Of course, daily posting may not happen (although I rarely miss a day of painting now,

I am usually so picky that I don't finish a project right away), but we will see...

 Here goes!

My first painting is acrylic on gallery-wrapped canvas, titled "Cherry on Top" ~ 6" x 6"

To see Leslie's blog and the rest of the "30 in 30" participants, click here!

Fancy Words

The longer I live, the more I realize that I am not nearly as well-read as I once thought.
I love words and their origins, though ~ a "semi-Logophile", if you will ~ but today, on Facebook, someone used a word that I don't recall ever seeing in print (or heard, to my knowledge) before ~ "quotidian". And they used it in a very "quotidian" manner, too (wait for it, if you are as uninformed as I was) ~ they were not being intentionally pompous or anything.

I don't think.

Anyway, I felt kind of dumb (and I am willing to bet I'm not the only one who did, after reading that comment), and I immediately Googled it. (Because that's what I have to do...you would not believe how often I Google things.)

I found the neatest site called "The Every Girl" ( theeverygirl.com ), and the subject was "Using Fancy Words" ~ it made me feel better about the whole thing,
I tell you...so I borrowed the following information ~ (totally THEIRS, not mine ~ hope I am crediting correctly!) ~ (Also, the list of Fancy Words at the bottom must have been discussed at some point, and I was pleased to discover that I knew (and had correctly used) most ~ though not all ~ of them.)

Soooo....I will probably, at least, remember "quotidian"...how about you? Have you discovered and "new" words lately?

(All definitions via dictionary.reference.com )

Fancy Word *EveryGirl*s should know: quotidian

Why we chose this fancy word:
One of our writing interns, Clarissa Fidler,
stumbled upon this word while reading a New York Times article by David Carr.
She found the well-known writer's unique, poignant perspective on the topic of
plagiarism to be anything but quotidian.

Definition: quotidian (adj.) pronunciation: kwoh-tid-ee-uhn

1. daily
2. usual or customary; everyday
3. ordinary; commonplace

Use this word in a sentence: Martha's quotidian looks and shy demeanor were no match for Zoe's breathtaking beauty and charismatic personality.
